Cogswell Gallery hosts jewelry designer Denise Wood

Daily Staff Report

VAIL – Jewelry designer Denise Wood began her career as a young girl when designing and making necklaces and earrings for her family and friends. What started as a hobby has developed into a passionate career. Wood gets her inspiration from nature, architecture, textiles and from scouring antique flea markets. Her grandfather, however, claims her inspiration extends back even further to Italian Renaissance and her ancestor Giovanni Francesco Rustica. Rustica was a painter and principal sculptor from the Court of Medici who occasionally collaborated with Leonardo da Vinci. It was the stories of her ancestor, combined with her creative spirit and love of adventure that led Wood to pursue her passion for design. The Cogswell Gallery hosts Wood in an artist reception from 2-7 p.m. in Vail Village. For more information, call the gallery at 476-1769.
