Cogswell Gallery in Vail hosts oil painter Allen Lund
VAIL CO, Colorado
Cogswell Gallery is hosting a holiday exhibition of new works by impressionist oil painter Allen Lund Friday and Saturday.
Lund, who is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, completed a new collection of mountainous, meditative landscapes the artist started sketching in the Vail Valley during his visit this past summer and fall.
A popular artist among residents and guests of the Vail Valley, Lund’s powerful and inspiring paintings of the Rocky Mountains continue to draw people into his beautiful world of rivers, valleys and mountain landscapes. Viewers will see familiar scenes from the Vail Valley in many of the new works that will be exhibited during the event, including East Vail and the Eagle River.
Lund’s artistic career began at a very early age. He has been interested not only in portraying the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, but also in creating historical windows into a pastoral and harmonious lifestyle between man and nature. His paintings present a visual path, created to lead the viewer into a lovely landscape of serene rivers and mountains.
In this new collection Lund has changed his technique slightly. His layers of colors are more subtle, more complex and detailed.
“Sometimes I have gone back into the painting up to seven layers to create a softer feeling to the landscape,” Allen said. “My intention is to give a feeling of depth, a progression that creates a deeper dimension to the artwork.”
