Colo. government Web site vanishes

DENVER ” The main page of Colorado’s state government Web site disappeared briefly on Tuesday and was replaced by a message saying “It works!” on an otherwise blank screen.

The page was quickly restored and computer experts were trying to figure out what happened, said Wil Alston, deputy director of the governor’s communications office.

Republicans jokingly accused Democrats, who control both houses of the Legislature, of trying to send subliminal messages.

Aston, whose boss, Gov. Bill Ritter, is also a Democrat, said he wasn’t sure what happened.

“We don’t know if it was an actual attack or a programming error,” he said.
