Colo. governor signs bills for military, drivers
DENVER – Gov. Bill Ritter has signed two bills: one that will increase cooperation between military installations and local communities and another providing tougher penalties for people convicted of careless driving resulting in death.
A bill sponsored by Rep. Su Ryden will bring military leaders together with local government officials on land use, zoning and development issues.
The other, by Rep. Judy Solano, increases the penalty for careless driving resulting in death from 4 points to 12 points on driver’s licenses, triggering a one-year license suspension of a license.
