Colo. governor urges tougher energy standards
DENVER – Big power companies could face higher renewable energy requirements under a plan being proposed by Colorado’s governor.Gov. Bill Ritter told lawmakers on Thursday that raising the requirement from 20 percent to 30 percent by 2020 will create tens of thousands of jobs across the state. The governor announced his plan Thursday.Ritter told the House Transportation & Energy Committee that the requirement would be the highest in the nation. He says it would lead to 100,000 solar rooftops over the next decade.
