Colo kills bill limiting access to election book
DENVER – The Colorado House Agriculture Committee has killed a bill that would have limited access to a state-published election booklet before it is published.
Lawmakers said Wednesday that legislative staffers were being inundated with demands for documents from political groups and they wanted to limit access on grounds it was a work in progress.
The so-called “Blue Book” explains initiatives and referred measures on the ballot and is required to include comments from supporters and opponents. It’s mailed to voters before every election
Lawmakers killed the bill after complaints from the news media that it would limit public comment.
