Colo. lawmakers reject security passes for lobbyists

DENVER (AP) – Colorado lawmakers have rejected a bill that would have allowed lobbyists to avoid security lines at the state Capitol.

Lobbyists told lawmakers they work at the Capitol like they do and they believed they deserved the same privilege of bypassing security accorded to lawmakers, state workers and the press.

Lawmakers said a bill to change the rules, dubbed “Lexus lanes for lobbyists,” had the appearance of giving special favors to the lobby corps. The lawmakers said lobbyists should go through the same metal detectors as school children and the general public.
