Colo. real estate director sues boss
DENVER – The head of the state’s real estate division director is suing her boss.
Erin Toll filed the lawsuit Friday, nearly two months after she was placed on leave.
Toll claims the head of the Department of Regulatory Agencies, Barbara Kelley, violated her rights by ordering her not to talk. She says Kelley leaked word of her leave or authorized another staffer to do so and released personal documents.
Toll was suspended after she sparred with state Sen. Ted Harvey, a mortgage broker, over a bill that would give a board, not her, the power to oversee mortgage brokers.
Toll said Harvey and his employer were under investigation. However, records show that an investigation wasn’t launched until the next day.
The department has repeatedly said Harvey wasn’t the target of the probe.
