Colo. Springs zoo searching for escaped otter
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A North American river otter that escaped from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs remained on the loose Saturday.
The otter, named Kitchi, is one of four that had escaped through a hole in the fence surrounding a zoo enclosure Thursday. Three other otters have been recaptured and returned to their pen.
Zoo spokesman Sean Anglum says they believe Kitchi is hiding in a culvert in a neighborhood near the zoo and were considering asking a utility company to send a small robot to help nudge the otter out. Kitchi weighs about 25 pounds and is about 4-feet long.
Anglum says the hole in the fence enclosure has been repaired.
