Colorado: 4 arrested in suspected trailhead theft scheme

DENVER, Colorado ” Colorado authorities say they busted a four-person identity theft ring that targeted hikers at trailheads and parks.
Colorado Attorney General John Suthers says two men and two women would lie in wait for cars left by hikers in Boulder, Broomfield and Jefferson counties.
The indictment says the gang stole credit cards from hikers’ cars and used them to buy video games, gift cards, groceries and electronics between July and September 2008.
Authorities say they used store video surveillance video to charge the four Coloradans. The indictments were announced Thursday.
The accused are 37-year-old Ismael Lopez, 28-year-old Quirina Lopez, 24-year-old Finesse Apodaca and 43-year-old Daniel Febles. They face charges including forgery, theft and trespassing.
