Colorado casino town votes on expanding stakes, hours
BLACK HAWK, Colorado ” Residents in the mountain town of Black Hawk were heading to the polls to vote on whether to increase the amount of bets and allow 24 hour gambling at its casinos.
If approved, casinos in Black Hawk could add craps and roulette and raise the stakes from $5 to $100. Central City will hold its election next Tuesday.
The local referendum is a product of a state constitutional Amendment 50 adopted with 60 percent of the statewide vote in November. Cripple Creek became the first of the state’s three gambling towns to increase bets and hours when voters there approved a similar measure last month.
