Colorado clerks want voting-by-mail

DENVER, Colorado – County election officials are asking the Legislature to quickly approve a stopgap measure that will let them conduct mail-in elections this year after most of the state’s electronic voting equipment was barred.

The Colorado County Clerks Association issued a statement Thursday saying a mail-in election with paper ballots is the only “immediate and workable solution.”

Secretary of State Mike Coffman decertified most of the electronic voting gear used in the state last month, citing security and accuracy issues.

The state Legislature is debating how this November’s election will be conducted.
