Colorado company forgoes holiday parties for holiday giving
LONGMONT, Colo. – Employees of Longmont-based Flatiron Construction Co. are forgoing holiday parties this year and instead are helping with a companywide effort to adopt 500 families during the season.
In Longmont, the company worked with the OUR Center’s Warm and Cozy program. Flatiron employees bought more than 750 items of warm clothing or blankets and donated money to 100 families struggling to keep their homes or pay their utility bills.
Edwina Salazar of OUR Center says Flatiron employees’ donations account for about 75 percent of the holiday program so far. She says demand on the center has doubled over the last year.
