Colorado Democrats file complaint against Ken Buck’s campaign

The Colorado Democratic Party filed a complaint Monday with the Federal Elections Commission, alleging Republican Senate candidate Ken Buck’s campaign has illegally coordinated with Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., and his Senate Conservatives Fund.

It is illegal for outside groups to coordinate directly with candidates or campaigns if they are spending money on a candidate’s behalf.

DeMint’s PAC has spent $305,000 in Colorado’s Senate race, and state Democrats say numerous planned appearances together prove that De Mint’s and Buck’s offices are communicating and coordinating campaign strategy.
