Colorado deputy shoots, injures DUI suspect

Associated Press

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) – Douglas County sheriff’s deputies say they shot a drunk driving suspect who hit a deputy with his car and was heading toward another deputy.

Details of the injuries to the suspect were not immediately available. Sheriff’s spokesman Attila Denes said the deputies had stopped the car west of Castle Rock, about 35 miles south of Denver, late Friday.

Denes said the driver put his car in reverse as deputies were trying to contact him, striking one deputy. The driver then drove forward toward another deputy, who shot him.

The deputy suffered non-life threatening injuries. Names were not immediately released.
