VAIL — At the second annual Top Shelf Harvest event Saturday in Vail’s Lionshead Village, top chefs from the best restaurants in Vail will be working with Colorado’s most sought-after distilleries to bring an interactive, boutique tasting event to life. Presented by the town of Vail, Lionshead Merchants Association and Eagle Valley Events, visitors will be transported back to the age of prohibition to experience a day of gourmet culinary and cocktail pairings, a mixology contest and live entertainment in a speakeasy-style setting.
“What better way to spend a fall weekend than with fabulous cuisine and cocktails with great entertainment in the beauty of Vail,” said Kevin Nelson, of Terra Bistro, one of the participating restaurants. “We’re thrilled to be a part of the event and look forward to sharing our tastes with all the guests.”
Top Shelf Harvest will also feature a mixologist contest, showcasing craft spirits of Colorado distilleries and talented Vail mixologists. Mixology judges will include Kevin O’Rourke, director of catering and convention services at the Sebastian Hotel; Matt Jones, of Summit Wines; and Dana Smith, formally of Pinnacle. Visitors can vote for their favorite cocktails and mixologist, as well as their favorite cuisine. Additionally, Ken Hoeve, host of TV8’s “Good Morning Vail,” will emcee the event and offer colorful commentary throughout the day.
Some additional highlights from the event include lively, period-style jazz and blues music by the Gregory DeGroat Band; speakeasy-style decor and entertainment featuring flapper couples, provided by the Vail Valley Theatre Company; speakeasy costumes for photo opportunities; and views of mountain bikers racing down Vail Mountain at the Outlier Offroad Festival in Lionshead.
