Colorado governor’s campaign admits anonymous praise

DENVER, Colorado – A tip for Colorado campaigners: Praises for a politician sent to blogs become a little embarrassing when the blog traces the messages back to the candidate.

Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter is the latest politician caught with campaign staffers posting glowing comments on political Web sites.

The Kenney Group, which is handling Ritter’s re-election bid, has confirmed to The Denver Post that a staffer posted praise about Ritter on at least one political blog.

A similar snafu was reported on the Republican side last week. A Colorado conservative blog traced comments praising Republican Senate candidate Cleve Tidwell to the candidate himself. Tidwell said an aide sent the messages and has resigned.
