Colorado: Helicopter lands on Mount Morrison
GOLDEN, Colo. – Rescuers have reached two people on board a helicopter that came down in the foothills west of Denver.
The instructor and a student on board suffered cuts, bumps and bruises and were taken to the hospital to be checked out Sunday morning.
Jefferson County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jacki Kelley said they had radioed that they were experiencing problems but it wasn’t immediately clear whether the chopper crashed or suffered a hard landing.
The helicopter landed on Mount Morrison about 1.5 miles northwest of Red Rocks Ampitheatre, where the annual sunrise Easter service was just concluding. The landing occurred on the other side of a ridge from the park and wasn’t visible to the approximately 10,000 people who attended the service.
