Colorado’s Joe Neguse re-elected to House leadership role
U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse (D-Colorado) was re-elected assistant minority leader by fellow Democrats in the House of Representatives Tuesday, Nov. 19.
Neguse, who represents High Country and Front Range communities in Congress, was unanimously selected for the senior leadership role by the House Democratic Caucus. He was first elected assistant minority leader in March, becoming the highest-ranking House member from Colorado in 90 years, according to his office.
“I’m incredibly honored to continue representing the Rocky Mountain West at the leadership table,” Neguse said in a statement. “Since first being elected to Congress, our office has remained dedicated to bridging partisan divides and delivering tangible results for the people of Colorado — and I’m committed to working with my colleagues in Congress to uphold these values and achieve meaningful progress as House assistant minority leader.”
Neguse won a fourth term in Congress in the 2024 General Election, beating out second-time challenger Marshall Dawson. In Congress, he’s risen through the ranks of House leadership and served as an impeachment manager during President Donald Trump’s second impeachment in 2021.
A Boulder Democrat, Neguse served as the executive director of Colorado’s Department of Regulatory Agencies from 2015-2017 and as a member of the University of Colorado Board of Regents from 2008-2014.

In Congress, Neguse represents Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District, which spans Boulder, Larimer, Jackson, Jefferson, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Eagle, Grand, Summit, Routt and Weld counties. The district includes several high-profile mountain resort areas — including Vail, Granby, Breckenridge and Steamboat Springs — as well as the Front Range cities of Boulder and Fort Collins.
