Colorado kills proposal to suspend student tests

Associated Press
Denver, CO Colorado

DENVER, Colorado ” The House Education Committee has killed a measure that would have suspended statewide student writing tests not required by the federal government for two years.

The plan to save money would have halted the writing test in grades 3 through 10; reading and math tests in grade 9; and reading, math, and science test in grade 10.

Opponents on Monday told the committee they were afraid the state would lose federal funding if they canceled the tests.
