Colorado lawmakers refuse to block new oil, gas rules
DENVER, Colorado ” State lawmakers have killed a bill that would have barred Colorado regulators from issuing new rules to protect wildlife from oil and gas drilling if they would hurt current energy production.
The House Agriculture Committee rejected the bill on Tuesday.
The rules are scheduled to go into effect April 1.
Democratic State Rep. Wes McKinley of Walsh and other opponents say the rules could limit oil and gas production and hurt the state’s economy when it’s already suffering.
