Colorado man drowns in Boulder County reservoir
NEDERLAND, Colorado – Authorities believe a man who drowned in Barker Reservoir west of Boulder had jumped in the water to retrieve his fishing pole.
The Boulder County sheriff’s office says the 22-year-old Aurora man was fishing with friends at about noon Thursday when he lost part of his pole in the water and jumped in to get it. His friends say the man started flailing about and called for help.
One of his friends jumped in, but had trouble because the water was cold. The friend made it back to shore.
Joggers who saw what happened ran to Nederland to tell police.
Divers pulled the man out of the lake, but couldn’t revive him. The man, whose name wasn’t released, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
