Colorado man wins $1M fantasy football prize in Vegas
LAS VEGAS ” A 31-year-old youth corrections officer from Ft. Collins, Colo., has won a $1 million fantasy football prize in Las Vegas, beating out thousands of others who paid $125 to enter the open tournament.
Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice awarded Shane Schroeder the money and trophy for winning the Fantasy Football Open Championship on Monday night at the Bellagio resort.
In fantasy football, players assemble and manage imaginary teams of NFL players and score points each week based on players’ performances in real games.
Online fantasy league host Poised to Stomp LLC organized the contest.
Schroeder led Sunday and held off second-place finisher Kenneth Stithen of Manchester, N.H., during Monday night’s game between Green Bay and Chicago.
