Colorado: Parks officer shoots alleged intruder at his home
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – No charges have been filed yet against a National Parks Service officer who shot a man whom Grand Junction police say was an intruder at the officer’s home, but the investigation is continuing.
Police say a 911 caller reported an unknown man at the home around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Sgt. Lonnie Chavez says the family reported the man was banging on the door and refusing to leave. A second 911 call reported the alleged intruder had been shot and was in the backyard.
The man who was shot was taken to a hospital. Chavez didn’t know his injuries or condition Monday, and police did not release his name.
The homeowner’s name also wasn’t released.
