Colorado public schools top 800.000 kids
DENVER, Colorado ” State education officials say enrollment in Colorado public schools has topped 800,000 for the first time.
The Colorado Department of Education said Thursday that the statewide student count rose by more than 8,600, or just over 1 percent from last year.
This year’s enrollment is 802,639.
The biggest surge was in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.
Districts with the biggest gains were Douglas County, Adams 12 Five Star, Brighton, Cherry Creek, St. Vrain Valley, Falcon, Boulder Valley, Denver and Fountain-Fort Carson.
Enrollment in charter schools authorized by the state’s Charter School Institute increased from about 2,700 to more than 4,400.
