Colorado Republicans to preview governor’s race
FRISCO, Colorado – Colorado Republicans are holding a forum and straw poll for candidates for governor and U.S. Senate.
Colorado Republican Party chairman Dick Wadhams says this is the first opportunity for candidates to make their case before a large gathering of party leaders.
All seven formally announced GOP candidates for Senate are expected to participate. They are: Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck; Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier; Montezuma County civic leader Gary Kennedy; Crested Butte businessman Luke Korkowski; Douglas County resident Vincent Martinez; former Colorado Lieutenant Governor Jane Norton; and Denver businessman Cleve Tidwell.
Two of the three candidates for governor plan to participate: Evergreen businessman Dan Maes and Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry of Grand Junction.
Former congressman Scott McInnis declined to participate in the governor forum, saying it’s too early for Republicans to be fighting.
