Colorado shuts down scam travel insurers
DENVER, Colorado ” A couple selling fraudulent travel insurance has been shut down by Colorado authorities.
Jerry and Christine Watson of Evergreen have been ordered to stop selling products through their company, Prime Travel Protection Inc. The Colorado Division of Insurance says about 200 people bought travel insurance through the unlicensed company.
Division spokeswoman Cameron Lewis said complaints about the insurers came from as far away as Florida. Among the complaints was a person who said her elderly mother broke her hip on a trip and couldn’t get a refund.
The Watsons did not comment on the order when contacted by The Denver Post. Last year the state of Tennessee shut down a similar business there owned by Jerry Watson.
