DENVER, Colorado -Skiers searching for deals get another shot at discounts this weekend as hungry Colorado resorts seek to lure visitors back to the slopes. The annual Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo typically signals the last chance to buy season passes at discounted fall prices.Promotions are sharper this year, analysts said, as ski areas and retailers try to recover from a substandard 2008-09 winter season when recession-stricken consumers stayed home. The show at the Colorado Convention Center, running today through Sunday, is expected to draw about 30,000 visitors.Skier visits in Colorado were down 5.5 percent last season compared with 2007-08.Preliminary data on resort bookings made in October for this ski season show signs of improvement from last year, said Ralf Garrison, senior market analyst with the Denver-based Mountain Travel Research Program, which compiles data on resort bookings. But skiers and visitors still are expecting significant discounts and promotions in exchange for their business. For more of this Denver Post story: http://www.denverpost.com/ci_13775853
