Colorado Springs bank robber gets 323 years

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ” A man convicted of robbing three Colorado Springs banks and pointing a gun at police has been sentenced to 323 years in prison.

A judge handed down the sentence Friday against 44-year-old William Allen Gregg. It’s effectively a life sentence because Gregg wouldn’t be eligible for parole for 242 years.

He was convicted of aggravated robbery, assaulting police and other crimes.

The bank heists were in 2006.

About five days after the last one, police used tear gas to flush him out of a house. Authorities say he pointed a handgun at officers, who opened fire. Gregg was shot and wounded, as were an officer and a police dog.
