Colorado Springs man’s death ruled homicide

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – Colorado Springs police say the death of a man who fell into a coma after suffering a head injury has been ruled a homicide.

Police say 43-year-old Greg Carter came home Dec. 22 with the injury and went to the hospital the next day. Police say he didn’t know how he was injured. Soon after his admission to the hospital, he fell into a coma and died Jan. 6.

Coroner’s officials said late last week that he died of severe blunt trauma to the head and ruled the death a homicide.

Officers say a friend saw Carter unhurt around 8:30 p.m. Dec. 22. Investigators say Carter may have run out of gas sometime that night. They are looking for anyone who saw him that night.
