Colorado state hospital fugitive captured in NC

DENVER, Colorado ” A convicted killer and patient of the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo who walked away in February has been captured in Concord, N.C.
Hospital spokeswoman Eunice Wolther says 49-year-old Mark Hartman was arrested Monday on a fugitive warrant. He’d been listed on escape status since skipping a hospital therapy session Feb. 17.
Authorities say Hartman is being held in the Cabarras County Jail and is awaiting extradition. Details about his capture and arrest were not immediately available.
Hartman was convicted of second-degree murder in the 1983 shooting death and burning of a man in Golden, and was sentenced to 36 years in prison.
He was later committed to the state hospital after pleading not guilty by reason of insanity in an unrelated case.
