Colorado State Snowshoe Championship kicks off

EAGLE COUNTY – Colorado is ready to find out who the state’s top women’s and men’s snowshoe racers are as the Pedal Power Snowshoe Adventure Series holds the fourth event of its series, – the Pazzo’s Meadow Mountain 9-Miler that also functions as the Colorado State Championship event. The race kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Ranger District parking lot at the Dowd Junction Interstate 70 Minturn exit west of Vail.The nine-mile course takes racers through untracked snow. Because of the challenge and variety of terrain, along with the untracked snow conditions, the Meadow Mountain 9-miler is considered one of the premier snowshoe courses in the country, attracting some of the top local, regional and national Nordic and endurance competitors. The Pedal Power series consists of five events starting in late November and running through early March. Participants can pre-register with forms from Pedal Power bicycle shop in Eagle-Vail, or by calling 970-845-0931.
