Colorado task force looks for ways to reduce poverty
DENVER, Colorado – A first-of-its-kind Colorado task force looking for ways to reduce poverty in the state is holding its first meeting.
The Economic Opportunity Reduction Task Force Committee meets Monday. Its goal is to cut the number of Coloradans living in poverty by half.
Members include lawmakers and private groups. The chairman is Democratic state Rep. John Kefalas of Fort Collins.
He says the committee will look at the root causes of poverty and try to determine why some parts of the state have more poverty than others.
