Colorado voting machines may be retested
DENVER, Colorado ” Republican and Democratic lawmakers have introduced a bill allowing Secretary of State Mike Coffman to retest and recertify the electronic voting machines he disqualified last month.
The measure prohibits Coffman from relaxing standards and requires that he explain any decision to recertify a machine.
Lawmakers say Colorado will probably end up voting mostly by paper ballot, but some electronic machines must be available for handicapped voters and anyone else who wants them.
The measure was introduced by Representatives Rosemary Marshall and David Balmer and Senators Ken Gordon and Steve Johnson.
