Colorado wants to hear from homeowners about securing affordable insurance
The state is hosting town halls across the Western Slope this fall

In Colorado, the affordability of homeowners insurance continues to present challenges.
Statewide premiums increased by 51% between 2019 and 2022 outpacing the national average according to a 2023 report from the Colorado Division of Insurance. In May 2024, the Denver Post reported that homeowners insurance premiums increased by 30% to 130%.
Presented with these increases, state lawmakers passed a bill in 2023 directing the Colorado Division of Insurance to look into what is affecting these costs and to make policy recommendations.
The division is looking to tour Colorado as part of this directive and hear directly from homeowners who are grappling with increasing rates or facing challenges in securing coverage.
Starting in late September and running through October, Colorado insurance commissioner Michael Conway will be hosting a series of town halls in Yuma, Grand Junction, Durango, Alamosa, Frisco and more.
