Colorado woman robbed after cashing in lottery ticket, police say
DENVER – Denver prosecutors have charged a man accused of robbing a woman who had just cashed in a winning lottery ticket.
The Denver District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday that 32-year-old Leonard Bedon is charged with robbery of an at-risk adult and theft from an at-risk adult.
Around 10:45 a.m. Sept. 17, a 75-year-old woman was walking to her car in a grocery store parking lot when a man jumped out of a truck, grabbed her purse and drove away. Prosecutors say a witness noted the license plate, which led to Bedon’s arrest.
Prosecutors say Bedon was in line behind the woman when she redeemed the lottery ticket for a cash prize of an undisclosed amount.
Bedon was being held on $50,000 bond. It was unclear whether he had a lawyer.
