Rifle woman killed in I-70 rollover

A 60-year-old Rifle woman died of injuries sustained in a rollover on Interstate 70 Tuesday morning, according to a Colorado State Patrol press release.

The woman appears to have lost control of her eastbound Ford Ranger near mile marker 92 just east of Rifle, spun and ran off the road, across the median, and into the westbound lanes, rolling at least twice in the process.

She was transported to Grand River Hospital, where efforts to save her were unsuccessful. Her identity is currently being withheld pending the notification of her family.

“The State Patrol would like to remind everyone to please always slow down and exercise extra caution when the roads are potentially dangerous due to icing and heavy snowy weather,” the release concluded. “It’s a choice which could save your life.”
