Visit Colorado’s four national parks for free this Saturday
The Rockies will have a home game against Philadelphia and the Nuggets will be at San Antonio for Game 4 of their playoff series, but Saturday might be a good day to get out of town and celebrate the grandeur of Rocky Mountain National Park.
Admission will be free there, and at all national parks, on Saturday to mark the beginning of National Park Week. It’s one of four remaining free days this year, along with Aug. 25 (the anniversary of the creation of the National Park Service in 1916), Sept. 28 (National Public Lands Day) and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day).
National parks around the country will be hosting special programs and events to mark the beginning of National Park Week. A special Earth Day celebration will be held at Rocky Mountain National Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center. There will be arts and crafts stations and there will be tours of the park’s greenhouse. It’s also the park’s Junior Ranger Day.
For more information, call 970-586-1206 or visit the park’s web site, http://www.nps.gov/romo.

It would be really hard to spark a wildfire anywhere near Vail Mountain or Beaver Creek right now. Still, unattended campfires will always draw attention.
