Colorado’s Democratic senator continues fundraising haul
DENVER, Colorado – Sen. Michael Bennet topped $1 million in fundraising for another quarter.
Bennet, a Democrat appointed to fill the term of Ken Salazar after Salazar became interior secretary, raised $1.2 million between April and June.
That leaves him with more than $2.2 million on hand to seek re-election next year.
Bennet announced the total Wednesday, the deadline to report fundraising activities to federal elections officials.
Totals for Bennet’s opponents hadn’t yet been listed on a federal Web site, and they didn’t immediately return calls. His opponents include Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier and Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck, both Republicans.
