EAGLE — Comedy Night at the Bowlmor returns to The Back Bowl in Eagle on Saturday at 8 p.m. with the inaugural appearance of nationally-touring comic Dan Davidson.

Hailed by critics as one of the sharpest and wittiest live performers touring today, Davidson’s material is provocative and edgy. He hits the stage with an instant likability and draws the audience in with his incredible sense of timing and the easy rapport that comes with the experience of more than 4,000 performances.

His first-ever appearance at The Back Bowl’s popular live comedy series is one that owner Joe Gonzalez has been looking forward to.

‘TOUGH ACT TO BOOK’

“We’d heard about Dan through our contacts at the Comedy Works, but he’s been a tough act to book because of his popularity and his schedule,” said The Back Bowl owner and general manager. “The stars finally lined up, and we jumped at the opportunity. We’re very excited to have him come to our stage.”

Like so many successful comedians, Davidson got his start in the one place where his considerable comic talents weren’t quite appreciated or welcome: the classroom. Fortunately for the rest of the country, Davidson found his way to an open mic night at a comedy club, where his sarcastic observational style was finally appreciated and, better yet, celebrated.

It wasn’t long before he won a number of comedy contests, including the Johnny Walker competition. This early success became the impetus to bid a fond farewell to college life and take to life on the road as an aspiring stand-up artist.

A FAVORITE ON THE COMEDY CIRCUIT

He soon parlayed his Midwestern likability, matched with his quick improvisational skills, to become a favorite on the comedy circuit. He has appeared as a regular at some of the country’s most renowned clubs, such as The Improv, Funny Bones, Catch a Rising Star, Zanies and Denver’s popular Comedy Works.

In addition to his stand-up work, Davidson has been featured on Comedy Central, Fox TV and numerous comedy showcases. He has also found himself as an opening act for first-tier names such as David Alan Grier, Brett Butler and Kevin Pollack, and for musical acts such as The Counting Crows and The Wallflowers.

Saturday’s show opens with Comedy Works funny guy Talon Saucerman and starts at 8 p.m. at The Back Bowl in Eagle. Tickets are on sale now for $15 in advance and $18 on the day of the show and can be purchased in person at The Back Bowl or by phone with a credit card by calling 970-328-BOWL. Group rates are also available. For more information, contact The Back Bowl at 970-328-BOWL or go to the website http://www.thebackbowl.com.
