If you go ...

Who: Comedian Scott McGrew.

When: 8 p.m. Saturday.

Where: Back Bowl, Eagle.

Cost: $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the show.

More information: Contact The Bowlmor Lounge at the Back Bowl at 328-BOWL, or go to http://www.thebackbowl.com.

Comedian Steve “Mudflap” McGrew need only to turn on the TV or open a newspaper to find fodder for his comedy routines. There’s no shortage of good material.

“There’s plenty of humor there,” he said. “Obamacare is such a disaster, even Obama has started taking his own name off of it when he speaks. More people have visited MySpace than the Obamacare website.”

That being said, McGrew usually doesn’t get all that political during his stand-up routines, he said.

“I’m not very political at all. I find that can really divide and turn off an audience. I leave that to my Facebook page.”

McGrew returns to Eagle County for a show at the Back Bowl in Eagle tonight. It’s his second time performing at the monthly comedy series.

Along with a comedy show on Sirius XM, McGrew has released several comedy CDs. His latest, “One Sick Puppy,” is available on iTunes. He is a regular at Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club, The Laugh Factory and Sin City Comedy club in Las Vegas.

He answered a few questions for the Vail Daily.

Vail Daily: I read that you performed on a cruise for comedy night. Was that your first time doing stand-up on a boat? Get any fodder from the experience?

Steve McGrew: I’ve been working for Celebrity Cruise lines. I’ve been sailing all around the Mediterranean doing shows. It’s a very interesting gig. My first night was like virgin sex: Afraid and couldn’t wait for it to be over! But now I’m more experienced with the ship audiences so I’m like let’s do it again and longer this time! Just like sex.

VD: Tell me about a specific, recent experience that inspired a new comedy bit for your show.

SM: Finding out my girlfriend can’t stay awake pass 9 p.m. I’ve written a whole bit about how a couple deals with a partner that wants to sleep while one wants to have a life. I think it’s one of the best I’ve ever written.

VD: You’ve performed in Eagle County, at the Back Bowl, once before. Remember anything about that show? What made you want to come back and perform up here, I mean other than the pay check?

SM: I remember walking in and thinking WTF?! A bowling alley! I just played the MGM in Vegas and now, I’m slinging jokes between pen action noise! Ha! But it was great! I loved the crowd. Good people, so I am excited to get back there.

VD: What is something you wish journalists would ask you, but we don’t?

SM: When’s the last time you threw up? Or how many clowns are invited to your funeral?

VD: What can people expect from your upcoming show at the Back Bowl?

SM: Laughter. Side-splitting, pee-inducing laughter. Well, I hope that’s what they get!
