Commemorative story hour at town of Vail Library

Daily Staff Writer

A special commemorative story hour will occur in the children’s room of the town of Vail Library from 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday. A visiting firefighter and a police officer will read a story. All children ages 3 years old and up are invited to attend with an adult. The officers, including Commander Steve Wright of the Vail Police Department and an officer from the Vail Fire Department will each read a favorite story of their choosing.”The young members of the audience will probably know nothing of the tragedy of Sept. 11th ,” said Ann Sinton, programming and youth librarian for the town of Vail Library, “But these local heroes will be introduced as important people that can be relied upon for help if ever our young people are in need. Most children of this age naturally admire these community workers and, for them, no introduction is necessary.” Story hour occurs every Tuesday and Wednesday at the town of Vail Library, but on this particular Wednesday, the library will offer a different emphasis by having the officers read. This is the third annual library fall celebration of our local police and firefighters.
