Commissioners consider offering naming rights for Edwards park
It has yet to be built, but already the players in Berry Creek’s forthcoming playground and skate park are considering how to go about giving the facility a name.
Rick Cook, a local resident who has lead the community effort to bring a skate park to the Edwards development, told County Commissioners Tuesday that he would like to involve local children in the process.
Cook envisioned a naming contest with the winning name being the one selected for the park, which would be built in Miller Ranch near the existing ball fields.
However, as the project itself continues to expand in size and scope, and therefore in budget, Commissioner Michael Gallagher suggested soliciting naming rights from companies to offset the mounting costs.
“I would like to see us make a nickel on it,” Gallagher said.
