Congressional candidate to visit Avon
Vail, CO Colorado
AVON, Colorado – U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, who represents the 3rd Congressional District that now covers part of Eagle County, will be making his first appearance in Eagle County when he appears at Loaded Joe’s in Avon Saturday at 9 a.m.
As a result of the Census and subsequent redistricting, Eagle County has been split into two congressional districts, Congressional District 2 on the eastern half of the county and Congressional District 3 on the west. Tipton was elected to Congress in 2010 and is running for re-election this year, after which he would represent the western portion of Eagle County if re-elected.
Kaye Ferry, chair of Eagle County Republicans, said she is thrilled. Republicans lobbied hard during the redistricting process to have Eagle County moved into Congressional District 3, which is on the western part of the state, instead of being combined with Front Range communities in Congressional District 2.
“That didn’t happen. As the process worked through the system, the best we could do is get half of us moved into CD3 under the leadership of Scott Tipton,” Ferry said. “But as Scott said to me, ‘I represent all Republicans and especially all Republicans in western Colorado.'”
This is the first opportunity for residents to meet Tipton. The public is welcome.
