Controlled burns scheduled for Wolcott area

EAGLE, Colorado – In a cooperative effort with Eagle River Fire Protection District, Colorado State Forest Service and the Bellyache Homeowners Association, Eagle County will be conducting controlled burns of several slash piles in the aera of Bellyache Ridge Road and Big Dipper Road today and Friday.

Firefighters will be burning piles of wood from the removal of bark beetle-infested trees.

Smoke and flames will be visible throughout the area during the burn. Homeowners in the area are asked to close windows and doors so that smoke does not enter. Keep all pets inside so they are not bothered by fire personnel in the area. Stay clear of heavy equipment and crews working.
