Copper Mountain reschedules Opening Day to Friday, Nov. 18
COPPER MOUNTAIN — Copper Mountain has made the decision to delay Opening Day for the 2016-17 winter season from Friday, Nov. 11, to Friday, Nov. 18.
Though the resort’s snowmaking team has been hard at work, unseasonably warm temperatures have limited snowmaking production and hindered the ability to create a product up to Copper’s standards.
With cooler temperatures in the forecast, Copper Mountain’s Resort Leadership is confident this extra week will provide the snowmaking team with the time they need to create the high quality snow product Copper guests have come to expect for Opening Day. Terrain for Opening Day will include the trails Rhapsody and Main Vein via the American Eagle lift, and the trail Ptarmigan via the Excelerator lift.
“Our top priority is to provide our guests with a high quality and safe surface for Opening Day,” said Gary Rodgers, president and general manager of Copper Mountain Resort. “The decision to delay Opening Day is always difficult and is not one we make lightly. Our teams have been working around the clock to prepare the mountain for the upcoming season, but we do need a little more cooperation from Mother Nature. We are eager to welcome our loyal guests back to Copper on Nov. 18.”
The Woodward Barn Bash will still take place on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 2 to 8 p.m. Free into, drop-in and skate/BMX sessions will be offered along with live music, a pro skate demo, video premieres, giveaways and more.
