GYPSUM ” A drunken woman was found lying in her vomit-covered driver’s seat in a car parked on Interstate 70 early one morning, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

A sheriff’s deputy woke up the 28-year-old woman, who smelled like alcohol, May 17. The lights inside the car were on, and the keys were in the ignition.

The confused woman was asked for her driver’s license three times before she handed it to the deputy.

The woman said she had been driving from Gypsum to Dotsero after drinking margaritas ” she didn’t know how many. She said she couldn’t do a roadside sobriety test, and she later threw up three times while the deputy was trying to test her blood-alcohol content.

The woman’s license was taken away and she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

EAGLE ” A passer-by called police after seeing three young children by themselves in a car at the City Market parking lot.

The children, all wearing seat belts, were in the car by themselves for about 15 minutes.

Police found their mother walking through the parking lot with a bag of groceries. She was surprised that leaving the kids alone was a problem and said she was just running a quick errand at the grocery store.

The woman was neither arrested nor ticketed, but the case was forwarded to Social Services.

WOLCOTT ” All the fuel from two vehicles was stolen from a Colorado Department of Transportation yard sometime before May 12, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

A worker said that to steal that much diesel, someone must have used a tank mounted on a trailer or on the bed of a pickup truck.

The diesel was taken out of two vehicles, both with 100-gallon tanks. At $4.50 a gallon, $900 in diesel was taken.

EDWARDS ” A pregnant woman was choked after she got into an argument with another woman, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

The 28-year-old woman, who was seven months pregnant, was upset that a 27-year-old woman had failed to mention that someone called her May 19.

The 27-year-old grabbed the throat of the pregnant woman, who slapped her. A man stepped in to break up the fight.

The pregnant woman cried when deputies talked to her, and the 27-year-old was ticketed for third-degree assault.

EDWARDS ” A bike rack that fell off a woman’s car in a parking lot was stolen after someone left it outside a coffee shop, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

The woman, 30, was driving in the Riverwalk parking lot when her $400 Yakima bike rack fell off May 16. She went inside the coffee shop and noticed her bike rack was gone when she left the shop.

Someone told her another person had left the rack next to the coffee shop’s door, but then another person took it and left in a white sport utility vehicle.
