Cops: Edwards man accused of rape
EAGLE ” An Edwards man allegedly assaulted and raped his 31-year-old ex-wife late Wednesday in the Eagle area, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Lissandro Almaraz, 24, waited outside the unidentified woman’s Eagle home for her to return from work. At about 10 p.m., he physically assaulted the woman and carried her to his car, said Kim Andree, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.
Almaraz drove the woman to a dirt road outside Eagle and raped her, Andree said.
The woman reported the rape after Almaraz brought her home, Andree said.
Paramedics took her to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs and doctors administered a rape kit and treated her for neck wounds, Andree said.
Deputies arrested Almaraz Thursday morning on suspicion of third-degree assault, sexual assault, second-degree kidnapping and domestic violence, Andree said.
Once Almaraz was brought to the jail, deputies found he had cocaine and added further charges of introducing contraband and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, Andree said.
Almaraz remained in Eagle County jail Thursday evening on $250,000 bond. He also is being held for the U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement agency.
