Vail, CO Colorado

GYPSUM, Colorado ” A 6-year-old who died Saturday was climbing an entertainment center in his home when he pulled a television onto himself, a spokeswoman for the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

The sister of the 6-year-old saw her brother pull a 32-inch television on top of himself, said Sarah Cross, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office. The boy’s mother called 911.

The family’s names are being withheld.

The details of the accident were unclear, Cross said.

“We don’t know if he fell first or what,” she said.

An ambulance took the boy to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, where he was pronounced dead by emergency room workers, she said.

No crimes were committed in the incident, she said.

Parents of students who attend the elementary school where the boy went met Sunday night with the principal to talk about coping with the tragedy, Cross said. Extra counselors were also there to help students Monday, she said.
