BEAVER CREEK, Colorado ” A bus driver was taken to the hospital after a passenger hit him several times and pushed his face into the window of a bus Tuesday night, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

The bus driver picked up a man at River’s Edge bus stop, between the Elk and Bear parking lots, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The man got upset when the bus driver was stopping at the Elk Lot, the driver’s regular route, and began hitting the bus driver while he was driving on U.S. Highway 6, said Sara Cross, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.

The driver was able to stop the bus before the man pushed his face into the driver’s side window, breaking it, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect ” described as thin and 5 feet, 6 inches tall ” was last seen running toward Avon, the Sheriff’s Office said. He was wearing a tan coat and blue jeans, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver, whose name was not released, was taken to Vail Valley Medical Center, where he was treated and released, Cross said.

Anybody who has information about this incident but wants to remain anonymous should call the Eagle County Crime Stoppers at 800-962-TIPS, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Crime Stoppers will pay $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect, the Sheriff’s Office said.
